This is a CALL TO VIRTUE!!

While on Facebook today I went to some of my updates and started reading through the articles about different church subjects. On Monday (Sept. 14th) Sister Dalton addressed some young adults at a BYU fireside. In reading this article I GOT CHILLS!! It corresponds with the lessons that we have been teaching the past couple of weeks. I thought that I might present it to my girls this week like it was a mission call. Her analogies really make sense, and if you have any young women or really anyone in your life who are big "GREEN" people, this will be a great article to share. So... it's been a long time and I'm sorry.

Here are the some handout ideas that I borrowed and made my own from other sites. Thanks to those who blog about YW more often then me! The handouts go along with Manual 1 Lesson 26, 27, & 28. Lesson 26 is the Testimony Tissues. I found really cute tissues at Micheal's and then glued the tag on to the front. It's fun to compare tissues to one's testimony - definitely better to have them and share then to be caught with out one!! Lesson 27 was about scripture study and so I gave them a copy of the story in the lesson and on the back of this I had the girls list some of their favorite scriptures. It was half a sheet, which is pretty big for a 'bookmark' so I suggested they put this with their journal so they can have a quick reference for scriptures when they are writing about the good the bad and the ugly:)! Finally, I loved this last weeks lesson. We read "The Tragedy at Rayad" and I melted some green jolly ranchers and smooshed them together to look like kryptonite. Then with the bag topper, I reminded them how to be their own heroes.

Manual 1, Lesson 14 - ode to my father

Handouts and quiz on this one. I am excited to share my testimony of how important it is to have the priesthood in the home and how lucky and grateful I am to have a dad who honors his priesthood. My dad is very special and had raised his family with out his true love for some time, and yet he still holds on to what he knows is right. What a great example to me, my family, those around him, and those he probably doesn't even know he influences! If you every are in northern UT - he's the high councilman who wears the brightest jackets and has the biggest smile. Love you dad!

Growing and Maturing in Self-reliance, Part 1 & 2

Hello... well I know this is late, but really my handouts for these two lessons were thanks to those who have shared their thoughts and ideas on SugarDoodle and A Bushel and a Peck of FUN blogs. So THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!! I really got happy to do these handouts and had a hard time picking what to give my girls and what not to give them. As you can see I pretty much gave them everything. I did make those cute hair clips! Way easy and REALLY CUTE and because I teach the beehives they were still highly loved. Also, I decided to connect the two lessons by putting scriptures in the fortune cookies and asked that they study them to be prepared for part 2. By the way... my leftover handouts are what are going to the two who posted a comment on the last post. It may not be these handouts, but... it will be a good one!

Following Christ's Example...

Last week and the week before our lessons were centered around Christ. First we discussed the Atonement, and then ways to follow His example. There were five keys discussed how to make sure your choices are what Christ's choices would want them to be. I found these darling keychains at target, 3 for 1$. I think they turned out really well.
This up coming Sunday is our Stake Conference so I will be a lesson behind some of you. SOOO I hope I will hear about how your lessons are going; and I'll be doing some searching for the cool stuff others have done.

It's a NEW YEAR....

I apologize for being so untimely in updating this site. I do have a darling gift idea that can be used for the next lesson or next year's Christmas gift. I actually found these sheep on sale at Bath and Body for 3$. HOW CUTE, RIGHT!! On the backs of the tags I wrote a special and individual note to each of my girls. I love them so much and am excited for the next year. Right now our lessons are centered around Jesus Christ - using a lot of scriptures. So I gave a bookmark with the scriptures this past week and will be giving a red pencil for marking this week. I have a big class and I am going to try to break the lesson into a couple of Christ's example. Then I will break them into groups of two and have them work together to study each example and present it to the class. Any other ideas???
